Our Story

Founded in 2012 Ackroo started our journey by acquiring MoneyBar, a Vancouver BC based gift card and loyalty provider that was founded in 2004 and focused on supporting automotive, hospitality and retail merchants.

In 2013 we rebuilt the MoneyBar platforms while commercializing our business through payment processing partners and a focus on providing gift card and loyalty processing for brick and mortar SMB merchants. Since then we have expanded our product offering to support e-commerce merchants, integrated to several point of sale and middleware providers and have made many advancements to the product to support larger merchant types. In an effort to consolidate our segment and advance our offering we have acquired 6 different competitive and complimentary companies and plan to continue down this path as we scale. We now  have specialization in Automotive, Petroleum, Hospitality, and Retail and a platform and support model for our growing list of SMB and Enterprise merchants.

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer of Ackroo, Steve leads the company’s corporate strategy.  Steve transitioned into this role after previously serving as the company’s EVP of Sales & Marketing.

Prior to joining Ackroo, Steve worked for Maritz Canada helping lead their strategic business development division.  In this role, he supported their Sales Channel Enablement, Engagement Marketing and Consumer Loyalty go-to market strategies.  Prior to Maritz, he spent over 8 years at Pitney Bowes, where he held various senior management positions in both the Unites States and Canada.  Steve brings over 15 years of successful sales leadership and business development experience from various small and large organizations within the software, telecom, business and marketing services industries.

Derek Schaaf

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Derek is responsible for the overall financial integrity and accountability of the business. This includes oversight of the financial department, involvement in negotiating financings and raising capital and due diligence on acquisitions as well as the management of human resources, contracts and compliance, and other administrative aspects of the business.

Derek also founded a technology company providing innovative online ticketing and event registrations solutions to labels, artists, and promoters in Canada and the US to better service the Music & Entertainment industry. Derek has been part of bringing significant growth to companies through strong financial management, innovative thinking, and progressive leadership.

Ihab Kazem

Vice President of Product

As Vice President of Product, Ihab leads the product management, product development, product support, and help with product marketing strategies.

Ihab leads the cloud infrastructure strategy, DevOps, internal software development process, and engineering team management. Ihab works closely with technology vendors, payment processor and POS partners, customer vendors, customers, and all facets of the organization internally to ensure the development team delivers on the business and product objectives of the company. Ihab is also responsible for executing the Technical Support strategy and tactics that will improve customer experience and bridge the gap between product delivery and support. The focus is in creating operational efficiency and promoting self-serve practices by customers, generate online helpdesk content and knowledge base documentation, while maintaining customer satisfaction, and scale the support process with the Ackroo customer growth.

Ihab has over 10 years in technical experience. Prior to Ackroo, he worked in several hi-tech start-ups, mid-size, and large companies in different software development roles, mainly on Software As a Service (SAAS) products on content management, multimedia transcoding and delivery, and telecommunications.

Ihab holds a Bachelors and Masters in Applied Sciences, Computer Engineering at the University of Ottawa. For his Masters thesis, he focused on interest management in massively multiplayer online games and distributed systems, which was nominated for best thesis award.

Tyler Moss

Director, Finance & Operations

As Director of Finance & Operations, Tyler is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, system data integrity and internal reporting. Tyler and his team work closely with other management to provide ongoing analysis of customer analytics, overall product line profitability, corporate cost containment and trend review to aid in decision making. Tyler is also responsible for operational workflows, project management, production, lead to close and margin management.

With over 8 years of financial experience, Tyler has spent the last 5 years as Financial controller of various businesses. Tyler has finance experience in many different industries including tourism and hospitality, real estate acquisition and vacation resort management.

Tyler brings a strong understanding of IFRS and corporate governance to ensure controls are in place to uphold the interests of the company’s many stakeholders.

Jennifer Feijo

Director, Marketing

As Director of Marketing, Jennifer leads Ackroo’s marketing department using her expertise in digital, social and content marketing to develop and manage both Ackroo’s corporate and client marketing needs. Her vast experience managing marketing strategies across the retail, tech and finance industries is an asset to the Ackroo team.

With over 16 years of experience in marketing, Jennifer provides a detailed perspective on what it takes to develop both inbound and outbound marketing strategies for both B2B and B2C companies. Prior to joining the Ackroo team, Jennifer has worked in product development, media sales, brand experience and agency roles. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Marc A Lapointe

Director, Hospitality & Retail

As Director of Hospitality & Retail, Marc focuses on driving growth for Ackroo through new client acquisition and by growing and supporting our current customers. With an eye for detail Marc looks for innovative ways for Ackroo’s Hospitality & Retail clients to get more out of their programs and ensuring they are supported fully throughout their journey with Ackroo.

Marc also manages the day-to-day strategic relationships with our various channel partners to ensure Ackroo is driving results into the business and delivering value for our partners.

Working in the Automotive Industry for over 15 years, Marc joined Ackroo after the acquisition of Dealer Rewards of Canada and Evolve Automotive Group where he served as Director and President respectively.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Automotive Management from the Automotive Business School of Canada at Georgian College and a Masters of Business Administration (Honours) with a concentration in Management from Northwood University at their Montreux, Switzerland campus. Marc is also fully bilingual in English and Français.

Craig Vukovic

Director, Automotive

As Director of Automotive, Craig oversees our Dealership, Automotive Services and Powersport clients. The Automotive team manages client relationships and assists in overall program strategy, marketing and growth to help achieve long term sustainable results and ensure our clients stay on the leading edge of loyalty retention within the industry.
